The Interprofessional Health Care Course (IPHC) is modeled after the Patient Centered Learning (PCL) small group curriculum of SMHS. The focus of the course is to learn about the role of other healthcare professionals and how to interact as a healthcare team. Seven disciplines are involved in the course including: medicine, nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, communication and sciences disorders, social work, and nutrition and dietetics. Each semester two six-week sessions are held on Tuesday evenings from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm. The small groups consist of seven to nine students from the various disciplines and meet in rooms across campus. The course is offered pass/fail.
Faculty from all participating disciplines are trained to facilitate the small groups. If you are interested in facilitating contact the course director.
