Positions: 1 per period
The student will work under the direct supervision of one of the members of the general surgery staff. He/she will be assigned and will follow patients of his attending throughout their entire illness. He/she will be expected to become more familiar with surgical diagnosis, including the simpler diagnostic procedures. He/she will participate in pre- and postoperative care, and will scrub in the operating room on his/her service patients requiring major surgery, where he/she will receive instruction in surgical technique.
General and vascular surgery will be offered through the general surgery department.
A written evaluation will be submitted to the assistant dean of the southeast campus.
