Objectives of the Elective:

Expose the student to a variety of musculoskeletal disorders.

Familiarize the student with evaluation techniques used to diagnose musculoskeletal
disorders.

Familiarize the student with the modalities and exercises available to
treat physical therapy/sports medicine patients.

Direct observation of treatment plans used for different pathologies.
Instructional Activities:
-
Direct observation of physical therapist/athletic trainer.

Hands-on evaluation of patients.
Standards of Performance (Outcomes) Indicating Attainment of Objectives:

Daily log of types of patients.
-
Direct observation of preceptor for evaluation of clinical skills.

A written evaluation will be presented to the student and the assistant
dean for the appropriate campus.
Criteria for Grading:
-
Evaluation of student's clinical skills.
-
Student's knowledge of anatomy and musculoskeletal pathology.
