Objectives of the Elective:

Obtain basic understanding of radiation oncology. Evaluate patients with
a wide variety of malignant diseases.

Appreciate how radiation is utilized in treatment of cancer patients.

Attain basic knowledge regarding radiation efficacy, side effects and indications.
Instructional Activities:
-
Regular scheduled conferences.
-
Witnessing various radiation oncology procedures and exams.
-
Assigned reading material.
-
New patient complete work-ups and discussion of patient oncologic diagnosis
and treatment.
Standards of Performance (Outcome) Indicating Attainment of Objectives:

At the preceptor's discretion, a case quiz may be given at the end of the
rotation.

Initiative and appropriateness shown by the student during the rotation.
Criteria for Grading:

Performance on case quiz, if given.
-
Overall ability to synthesize information presented during the rotation.
