Objectives of the Elective:

Obtain basic understanding of radiology procedures and how they physically
impact the patient.

Appreciate how to use the radiologist as a true consultant in patient management
and work-up.

Attain basic interpretive skills for simple radiology examinations such
as chest films, abdomen and bone films, etc.
Instructional Activities:
-
Regular scheduled conferences at either hospitals.
-
Witnessing various radiology procedures and exams.
-
Assigned reading material.
-
View box review of radiographic films and imaging studies with the radiologist.
Standards of Performance (Outcomes) Indicating Attainment of Objectives:

At the preceptor's discretion, a case quiz may be given at the end of the
rotation.
-
Appropriate answering of questions posed by radiologist to student during
the rotation.
-
Initiative and appropriateness shown by student during the rotation.
Criteria for Grading:
-
Performance on case quiz.
-
Performance during questioning on a daily basis by radiologist.
-
Overall ability to synthesize information presented during the rotation.

Radiologist's subjective assessment of student's ability to answer questions
relating to disease process and pathophysiology.
