  1. The program will be discussed with the student to see if he/she has any particular goal or objectives in mind. Whatever goals or objectives they have will then be incorporated into the program in a suitable manner.
  2. The student will observe routine operations of the department on a daily basis.
  3. The student will observe and participate in film readings throughout the day.
  4. The student will be observing fluoroscopy to become familiar with what the patients experience as they go through these various fluoroscopic procedures.
  5. Special procedures are a common occurrence in the department and these will be explained to the student as they occur. The student will be allowed to participate in these procedures if he desires.
  6. Computerized tomography is an important part of the function of this department. The student will observe and participate in these procedures as need be. The mechanism and capabilities of the procedure will be explained as various occasions arise.
  7. Ultrasound also is a vital part of our imaging department. This modality will also be explained and the student will have numerous occasions to observe.
  8. Nuclear medicine procedures and techniques will be explained and numerous opportunities to observe the procedures will arise.
  9. Some of the students have already taken a Lucy Squires Seminar. If the student has not done so, this will be available. For the students who have had the seminars in the past, there are several new updates on gallbladder/biliary tract, renal systems, and also three new seminars on bone. Student would be able to utilize these during this elective.
  10. There are numerous teaching films from the Dr. Squires series. If the student has not participated in these films in the past, he will be able to do so at this time.
  11. The film library in the department is also available for the student's use throughout the period of the elective.
  12. As stated initially, any particular goals or objectives the student has will be discussed initially and these will then be incorporated into the elective program if possible.
