Objectives of the Elective:

1. Theoretical knowledge of GI basics.
2. Patient management GI.
3. Clinical skills GI.
4. Familiarity with GI endoscopy procedures.
5. Acquiring latest developments in GI by literature review.

Instructional Activities:

1. Daily hospital rounds.
2. Arranged discussion of topics.
3. Patient management problems and clinical skills - discussion.
4. Exposure to GI endoscopy procedures and x-ray interpretation.

Standards of Performance (Outcomes) Indicating Attainment of Objectives:

1. Clinical skills observation.
2. Patient management skills.
3. Theoretical knowledge, observation - basic and latest developments.
4. Knowledge of indication and contraindications for GI endoscopic procedures.

Criteria for Grading:

1. Observe for any area of major weakness in standard of performance.
2. Ability level in advancing medical knowledge.
3. Commitment to patient care and medical management and reliability.
4. Work ethics and organization.
