Objectives of the Elective:

  1. Improvement of clinical skills.
  2. Patient management analysis.
  3. Active participation in educational meetings.
  4. Medical emergency management.
  5. Exposure to subspecialties of GE/GI endoscopy.

Instructional Activities:

  1. Hospital rounds with the preceptors.
  2. Discussion of patient management problems, recent medical developments and literature review.
  3. Exposure to GI procedures.
  4. Exposure to critical care medicine in ICU.

Standards of Performance (Outcomes) Indicating Attainment of Objectives:

  1. Observation of clinical skills.
  2. Discussion of patient management.
  3. Performance in educational meetings.
  4. Assessment of knowledge of recent developments by discussion.

Criteria for Grading:

  1. Observe for major weaknesses in any area of standard of performance.
  2. Activity level in advancing medical knowledge.
  3. Commitment to patient care and medical management and reliability.
  4. Work ethics and organization.
