Objectives of the Elective:

  1. Perform comprehensive patient evaluations.
  2. Design and implement treatment plans.
  3. Provide continuity of care during hospital stay of internal medicine patients.

Instructional Activities:

  1. Daily rounds with pertinent discussion and review of literature pertaining to hospitalized patients.
  2. Mini-lectures on selected topics--again pertaining to subject at hand.
  3. Perform procedures at skill level with direct supervision.

Standards of Performance (Outcomes) Indicating Attainment of Objectives:

Daily reviews during twice daily rounds of care plans and their effectiveness.

Criteria for Grading:

  1. Adequacy of H and P.
  2. Adequacy of doctor/patient relationships.
  3. Ability to formulate care plan and adequacy of clinical knowledge.

Supplemental:

Meals and housing will be provided. There also may be a possibility of a stipend.
