Objectives of the Elective:
-
Review the basic concept of internal medicine.

Bedside evaluation of patients with medical problems.
-
Review internal medicine concepts and updated medical management.
-
Try to instruct the student in the "art" of medicine.
Instructional Activities:
-
Twice a day rounds.
-
Case presentations.
-
Review articles of referred journals.
-
Discuss topics pertinent to problems currently in the service.
Standards of Performance (Outcomes) Indicating Attainment of Objectives:

Student will be evaluated daily as he/she presents cases.

Topics of discussion will serve as a parameter to determine student participation
on literature research and eagerness to learn.

Availability of the search literature will be evaluated when topics are
assigned.
Criteria for Grading:

Punctuality.
-
Relation to staff and personnel.
-
Proper case presentation.
-
Ability to research literature on patient care problems.
