William K. Becker, MD, PhD, FACS

Professor of Surgery

William K. Becker is Director of Surgical Education and Professor of Surgery in the Department of Surgery at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences. He received his MD from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, Minnesota, and completed his general surgery residency training as well from the University of Minnesota. Dr. Becker did a Fellowship in Surgical Critical Care at the University of Minnesota and also did a Bush Foundation Medical Fellows Program through the University of North Dakota and obtained his PhD from the Master’s program at Helsinki                                 University, Helsinki, Finland.

Dr. Becker was Program Director of the General Surgery Residency Program and Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences beginning in 1992. He was promoted to full professor in 1998 and remained Program Director until February 2001. Dr. Becker is Board Certified in General Surgery with special interests in burns and surgical critical care/trauma.
