Application Information for WICHE Certified Applicants
Information about our program, the pre-physical therapy prerequisites, the professional curriculum, and course descriptions can be found on this web site. Further information about our program and the application process can be obtained by writing:
Department of Physical Therapy
University of North Dakota
P.O. Box 9037
Grand Forks, ND 58202-9037
You may also call UND PT WICHE contact person Alyson White at 701-777-2831 or send email to Dr. Thomas Mohr at tommohr@medicine.nodak.edu
Once a student has made application for certification, the student must wait until the Department receives the final list of certified students from the Regional WICHE Office in Boulder. Letters of invitation are sent to all certified students on that list. Once the letter of invitation is received, a student may call or write for an application.
Three reference forms will be sent with the application. These reference forms need to be completed and returned directly to the Department of Physical Therapy. Transcripts from each institution attended need to accompany the application (or be sent under separate cover as soon as possible). The transcripts do not need to be official. A student copy is sufficient.
There is no deadline per se for the WICHE applicants. Selection from the WICHE applicant pool is an ongoing process. The sooner a student gets completed application, transcripts, and reference forms returned to UND-PT, the better. A student is informed of acceptance via telephone and a follow-up letter. The professional program begins with the Fall Semester.
Application Information for Alaska Residents
Alaska residents should contact the Physical Therapy Department at the University of North Dakota as early as possible, preferably when starting college or early in their pre-physical therapy program. Although Alaska no longer funds students, they do offer a loan support program. Students should contact the Alaska WICHE office for details. Alaskan students, who are not WICHE certified or given support, may pay a higher tuition rate. Details of the tuition can be obtained from the UND Physical Therapy Program Chairman.
Application to the professional PT program is done in the spring of the year. Applications are available from UND physical therapy after January 1. Three reference forms will be sent with the application. These reference forms need to be completed and returned directly to the Department of Physical Therapy. Transcripts from each institution attended need to accompany the application (or be sent under separate cover as soon as possible). The transcripts do not need to be official. A student copy is sufficient.
