Mission Statement:

The mission of the Division of Medical Genetics is to offer information, diagnostic services, education and support about current and future genetic health concerns for North Dakota patients and families. Our comprehensive statewide clinical genetic/birth defects program provides and utilizes an extensive network of services both locally and nationally. The Division of Medical Genetics educates undergraduates, graduates, and practicing professionals in the areas of medical science and the health and human services and also presents educational programs throughout the surrounding communities. The Division advances biomedical knowledge through clinical research and publications.

Medical Genetics is:

The field of medicine that studies the causes of human biologic variation by all methods of human genetics, teratology and medicine.  The practice of Medical Genetics provides patients with diagnosis, treatment, management and information about the prevention of genetic and congenital disorders in humans.
