Clinical Genetic Services include providing information, evaluation and support to families who have members with birth defects and/or genetic disorders or who are at risk for a variety of inherited conditions. Genetic counseling may include providing a diagnosis if necessary, determining a recurrence risk, helping the family understand the disorder, possibly ordering tests, and answering questions or concerns. Support includes helping the family cope with the diagnosis and assisting them with objective decision making, as well as connecting them with appropriate resources.
