Martin
L. Rothberg, MD was appointed
Assistant Dean of the Northwest Campus on August
1, 1998. Dr. Rothberg graduated from Montana
State University-Bozeman; received his medical
doctorate from the University of Washington
School of Medicine (WAMI); and completed residencies
in general and cardiothoracic surgery at Creighton
Univeristy Affiliated Hospitals in Omaha, Nebraska;
Royal Lancaster Infirmary in England; and the
University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.
Dr.
Rothberg was appointed Clinical Associate Professor
of Surgery at the UND School of Medicine &
Health Sciences in 1992, and he was promoted
to full professorship in January 1997. He is
Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery at Creighton
University School of Medicine in Omaha NE; and
currently serves as Chief of Surgery and Chief
of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Trinity Hospital
in Minot ND.
Since
his arrival in Minot in 1992, Dr. Rothberg has
actively participated in the medical education
of resident physicians at the Center for Family
Medicine and fourth year medical students at
the Northwest Campus of the medical school.
He serves as surgery advisor to family medicine
residents and established a critical care elective
rotation for midlevel residents. In 1998 he
also coordinated a multidisciplinary critical
care elective rotation in Minot for the fourth
year medical students. While at Creighton Univeristy
School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska, Dr. Rothberg
established a cardiothoracic surgery elective
rotation for senior medical students.
Dr.
Rothberg received a Community Faculty Distinguished
Teaching Award from the UND School of Medicine
& Health Sciences in 1996, and he was elected
to membership in the Alpha Omega Alpha Honorary
Medical Society in 2001.
