GOALS:
1.Provide the student with a comprehensive,
broad-based primary care medical education;
2.Provide the student an opportunity to
experience the lifestyle of rural health care providers.
OBJECTIVES:
1. Develop data collection and problem-solving
skills;
2. Learn principles and interventions
for health promotion and disease prevention;
3. Develop an awareness of the impact
of family and culture on health care;
4. Experience the scope of care provided
in a rural setting, including experiences appropriate
to Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics/Gynecology,
Pediatrics, and Surgery;
5. Learn about patients/families in the
context of continuous care over seven months;
6. Learn principles of Community-Oriented
Primary Care (COPC);
7. Develop an understanding of research
activities;
8. Address course requirements and expectations
for traditional year 03 clerkships in Family Medicine,
Internal Medicine, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Pediatrics,
and Surgery.
