Eudora is no longer included with the connect software due numerous
mail programs available. Will we still support Eudora and have provided
the address to a free download of the newest version of Eudora Light. http://www.eudora.com/
We have also included instructions on how to set up email program included
in Netscape.
NOTE: This software prompts you to restart but you should actually shut down completely before configuring FreePPP. You may also have to run the configuration from the applications folder. See FreePPP Configuration section for details.

Installing NDUS Connect
1. Insert Disk1 and click
on the installation icon (Install_1).
2. Click on Continue.
3. Choose easy install
or custom install (Easy Install recommended).
4. Click on Continue at Prompt,
which closes all applications and reminds you to restart after installation.
5. Are you running MacTCP
or OpenTransport ? (Check Control Panel)
Open Transport Configuration
1. Select TCP/IP from the
ControlPanel.
2. Select User Mode
from Edit on the menu bar at the top of the TCP/IP panel.
3. Select Advanced user mode
and click OK.
4. Set the following values:
a. Connect via:
FreePPP
b. Configure:
Using
BootP Server
c. Subnet mask:
d. Router Address:
e. Name Server
Address: 134.129.111.111
134.129.201.29
f. Additional
Search domains: nodak.edu
5. Close TCP/IP window and save
configuration as requested.
MacTCP Configuration
1. Select MacTCP from the
Control Panel.
2. Click on the FreePPP icon.
3. Click on the MORE button
at the bottom of the MacTCP control panel.
4. Set the following values:
a. Obtain address:
Server
*To set this you will have to temporarily
choose Manually Obtain Address to allow you to enter the gateway address.
Don’t forget
to click on Server Obtain Address before closing this setup.
c. Class: B
(automatically sets the Subnet Mask, etc.)
d. Domain: IP
Address: Default
nodak.edu 134.129.111.111 *
nodak.edu 134.129.201.29
5. Click on OK.
6. Close control panel by clicking
the upper left-hand corner.
FreePPP Configuration
1. Select Open FreePPP Setup
by clicking the telephone icon on the right side of the system menu bar
near the finder icon.
* If the icon doesn’t exist, make
sure you have completed the MacTCP or OpenTransport setups and/or Reboot.
If the icon still
doesn’t appear, reinstall the software.
** If the Open FreePPP Setup icon
"doesn’t work", you can find the FreePPP Setup buried in the Internet/Applications/FreePPP
folder.
2. Select Accounts.
3. Click on "Untitled" and
edit.
4. Set the following values to your
situation:
Server name: UND (or other
university)
Phone number: 777-0123 (or
other campus access number)
Connect: Direct Connection
(For
Grand Forks, Bismarck, Fargo)
OR
Connect: Using Connection Script
for
other campuses
Username: userid@mail.med.und.nodak.edu
Password: ******
5. Click on OK.
You should be ready to connect to
the campus of your choice.
