Make sure you have the Dial-Up Adapter installed on your computer.

1. Double click or open "MyComputer" icon.
2. If you have a Dial Up Networking folder or link (Windows ME), skip ahead to "Setup your Dial-Up Adapter".
3. Click on your Start button, then Settings, then Add/Remove programs.
4. Click on the Windows Setup tab.
5. Highlight Communications and click on the Details button.
6. Check Dial-Up Networking and leave the any other features checked or they will be uninstalled.
7. Click on OK. You will be prompted to insert your windows 95/98 installation disk. (CD or 3.5").

1. Verify TCP/IP Protocol exists.

1. Click on the Start Button.
2. Choose Settings.
3. Choose Control Panel.
4. Choose Network. (If TCP/IP exist Click on OK and go on to Setup your Dial-Up adaptor)
5. Click on Add.
6. Choose Protocol.
7. Click on Microsoft.
8. Choose TCP/IP.
9. Click on OK. Click OK again. You will be prompted to insert your Windows 95/98 installation disk (CD or 3.5").
10. Restart your computer.

Verify TCP/IP Exists.

1. Click on the Start button.
2. Choose Settings.
3. Choose Control Panel.
4. Choose Network. (If TCP/IP exists click on ok and go on to Setup Your Dial-Up Adapter).
5. Click on Add.
6. Choose Protocol.
7. Click on Microsoft.
8. Choose TCP/IP.
9. Click on OK. Click ok again. You will be prompted to insert your Windows 95/98 installation disk (CD or 3.5").
10. Restart your computer.

Setup your Dial-Up Adapter

• Double click on My Computer.
• Double click on or open the Dial-up Networking folder or link (Windows ME).
• Click on "Make New Connection"
• Type a name for the computer you are dialing, example--Dial UND
• Select a modem if not highlighted. Clicking on the down arrow should reveal your modem. Highlight and click on next.
• Fill in the phone number to the computer you want to call. (If local, you may uncheck Dial Area Code and Dialing properties)

  Click on Next.
• You have successfully created a new Dial-up Networking connection. Click on Finish.
• Right click on the newly created Dial-up icon and choose Properties.
• Confirm the phone number and modem.
• Click on the Server type button.
• Confirm the Type of Dial-Up Server: PPP: Windows 95/98, Windows NT 3.5 Internet.
• Click ok until you're back to your dial-up icon.
• Double click on the newly created dial-up icon to connect to UND. When prompted for a userid and password, use your full e-mail address and email password. Leave any other fields such as Domain blank.  You should get a message stating that you have connected at a particular baud rate.
• You can create a shortcut to the UND dialup icon by right click on the icon and selecting "Create shortcut" from the list. You will be prompted that you cannot create a shortcut here but do you want to move it to your desktop. Choose "yes".
