NDUS Connect 32

BEFORE installation

  1. Verify you modem installation
  2. Click on the Start button.
  3. Choose Settings.
  4. Click on Control Panel.
  5. Double click on the Modem icon.
  6. If your modem has been installed it will be listed. If not, click on the Add button.
  7. Allow Windows95 to detect your modem.
  8. Remove all previously installed Network Protocols.
  9. Click on the Start button.
  10. Choose Settings.
  11. Click on the Control Panel.
  12. Double click on the Network icon.
  13. Highlight and Remove any components listed.
  14. Reboot your computer (only if you deleted any network components)
NOTE: There are seven disks in the installation set. After the 5th disk, you will be prompted as to which version of Windows 95 you are running and that you should follow the instructions for A or B based on what version you are running. You can ignore this and follow the directions below. You will not use disk 6 or 7 if you are using version A.

Installing Connect 32 software

  1. Insert Disk 1 into the appropriate floppy drive.
  2. Click on the Start button.
  3. Choose Run.
  4. Type a:setup in the Open: text box. (Note: your floppy drive may not be A: Enter the appropriate drive letter).
  5. Click on the OK button.
  6. You should see the Connect32 Introduction screen. Click on OK.
  7. You will be prompted to restart you computer after successful installation. You must do this before continuing with the setup.


Dial-Up settings

  1. Double click on the My Computer icon.
  2. Double click on DialUp Networking folder.
  3. Right click on the Connect32 icon and select Properties.
  4. Enter the phone number to your campus.

  5. Click on Server Type.
  6. Confirm the type as : PPP, Windows95, WindowsNT 3.5, Internet
  7. Check TCP/IP. (NetBEIU and logon Network aren't necessary)
  8. Click on OK.


Connecting with Connect32

  1. Double click on the Connect 32 icon on your desktop.
  2. Enter your FULL email address (i.e., userid@mail.med.und.nodak.edu)
  3. Verify the phone number.
  4. Click on Connect.
  5. The dial-up adapter will run through the script and prompt you that you are connected at a specific baud rate.


GF, FARGO & BISMARCK DIALUP NOTE:
Create a new connection by double clicking on the Add New Connection icon in the Dial-up Networking folder. Follow steps 4-11 from the Dial-up Settings section above. The Connect 32 software links the dial-up adapter to a script that is no longer necessary when dialing into GF, FARGO & BISMARCK - UND.
