Eudora LDAP

Although there's a Macintosh version of Eudora Pro 4.0, its support for Directory Services is completely different from the Windows version - and we haven't figured out how to get it to work with the Med School's LDAP server yet.

In order to use Directory services in Eudora Pro 4.0 for Windows , you must set up the parameters.  To do this first select the Tools menu,  then select Directory Services. See below...

Selecting Directory Services from menu

Next highlight LDAP under protocol - Registered Drivers then click on  New Database, as shown below..

Choosing LDAP as the Database

Next you give your new database a name and also the Host Name of the directory server. Follow the example below. You can choose any name you like for the database name (I chose Medicine) but you must type the Host Name exactly as shown. Do not change the port number
Entering host and port number

Finally you need to add the search options...  See below

Setting the search base

The values are  ou=medicine, ou=UND, o=NDUS, st=North Dakota, c=US

Finally, make sure your new database entry (which shows up as "Medicine  LDAP") is checked, and un-check any databases you don't wish to search.

Now, you can find e-mail addresses.  To do this all you have to do is type in the name ( first, last or both) of the person whose address you are trying to find and click start.  This will give you a list of names as seen below... (You may need to adjust the query window in order to have the names displayed as shown.)
