A look at UNDSMHS Web logos through the years ...
This logo was one of the first (perhaps the first) used on a UNDSOM homepage, back around 1994-1995. The "Fat Worms" logo was the official logo of the "School of Medicine" as we were called back then. In those days, people used "Mosaic" as their browser, and just about all webpages had grey backgrounds. Bevelled edges on graphics were also very popular back then. |
Around 1996, it became obvious that the "Fat Worms" were going away, and this intermediate logo was used for a few months. The irregular edge was a distinct contrast to the hard geometric shape of the previous logo - made possible by improved browsers that supported transparent GIFs Dr. Roger Sopher referred to this as the "Cowpie logo" |

This logo appeared on the webserver on the same day a ceremony was held in the new research building to unveil the new "School of Medicine and Health Sciences" logo. It remained for many years and has also appeared on several department homepages, and printed materials. We did manage to save a copy of the last homepage to use this logo. Some of the links will probably keep working for a long time. The cream-colored paper-texture background was shamelessly ripped off from Dr. David Theige's Internal Medicine homepage. |

This new logo and set of bottons appeared Jan 1st, 2000 - to celebrate the new year. There was some grumbling when this first appeared on users' screens - the previous logo and homepage had been used for such a long time, that some users were a little bit lost when the links they were used to seeing were moved to different locations. Previously, when the logo changed, the actual links on the homepage had remained fairly constant. Fortunately, nobody seems to have been actually killed by the upheaval.
