Students
accepted to either of the graduate programs in Anatomy
and Cell Biology (M.S. or Ph.D.) will receive formal
education and training to prepare them for careers
in academic teaching and research, or alternatively,
for careers in a variety of scientific settings
such as biotechnology industries, biomedical research
institutes, etc. The degree of Master of Science
or Doctor of Philosophy is conferred upon successful
completion of an individual's program. Programs
for students will be based on the individual's scientific
interests and career goals within the framework
of required courses and activities. Requirements
for both M.S. and Ph.D. degrees entail coursework
and original, independent research in the basic
biomedical sciences of structural biology, cell
biology, developmental biology, and/or neurobiology.
