Nicholas H. Neumann, M.D., M.M.M., CHE, FCCP

Dr. Neumann has practiced medicine in North Dakota since 1980 when he moved to Bismarck from his hometown of Detroit, Michigan. He is a specialist in lung diseases and disorders, being certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in both internal medicine and pulmonary medicine.

Earning his Doctor of Medicine degree at Wayne State University School of Medicine, Dr. Neumann also completed his 5-year internal medicine residency and pulmonary/critical care fellowship training at the multi-hospital Detroit Medical Center complex. He also has earned a Masters in Medical Management (MMM) degree from the Tulane University School of Public Health in 1997, and he served as the Director of Medical Affairs at St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck from 1994-1999. He is a Certified Healthcare Executive (CHE) by the American College of Healthcare Executives.

His additional experience in emergency medicine, and his training and interest in medical education have enabled him to be a part of teaching residents-in-training and medical students throughout his career, and he has received several honors and awards from students and residents acclaiming his outstanding teaching. He is currently Professor of Medicine and Assistant Dean, and Director of Medical Education for the Southwest Campus, of the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences.

A Fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American College of Chest Physicians and a member of the American Thoracic Society and the North Dakota Medical Society, Dr. Neumann is also the Medical Advisor for the North Dakota Society for Respiratory Care. He is a member of the Association of American Medical Colleges Group on Student Affairs, and the Medical School section of the American Medical Association. He is actively involved in the AMA Education for Physicians on End-of-Life Care training program, and in state public health and local community efforts to promote tobacco-free lifestyles and clean air throughout North Dakota.
