Mission, Goals, and Objectives

The mission of the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences is to educate and prepare physicians, medical scientists, and other health professionals for service to North Dakota and the nation, and to advance medical and biomedical knowledge through research (Bulletin, University of North Dakota School of Medicine, 1995-97, p. 10).

Since its creation on July 1, 1951 the objectives and goals of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology have been, and continue to be, “….to create a center of excellence in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and to excel in teaching, research and services” (Cornatzer, W.E. (1982) “History of the Biochemistry Department,” UND Departmental Histories series, p. 2).

  • To excel in TEACHING medical, graduate, and undergraduate students.
  • To excel in RESEARCH AND RELATED SCHOLARLY ACTIVITIES.
  • To excel in SERVICE.
